Methods of Transportation

Revised: 11/12/2018

When planning a business trip, the method of transportation that best meets the needs of the traveler and the University should be selected by the traveler with approval by the appropriate departmental official. All relevant factors such as employee time and effort, proximity to rental or University vehicles, length of trip, and other administrative costs should be considered when selecting the most cost effective method of travel.

The University has negotiated discounted corporate rate programs with major car rental companies, as well as a shuttle service to provide ground transportation between the Columbia, Kansas City, and St. Louis Airports. Use of these companies provides for significant savings over standard rates therefore; these resources should be utilized whenever possible and practical.

For a listing of airline, airport, hotel, motel, rental agencies and shuttle services, consult the UM System Travel Page or Accouns Payable Travel Page.
