Departments requiring data network security services must obtain those services from the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).
Procedures
Firewall Services
Departments requiring firewall services to maintain the security of their local area networks must obtain those services from the Division of Information Technology.
The Division of Information Technology identifies firewall solutions that:
- Meet established performance standards.
- Are compatible with the University’s data network infrastructure.
Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
The Division of Information Technology strongly encourages, and in some cases requires, the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology when accessing University computing resources remotely.
General, non-dedicated VPN services are provided at no cost to the MU community.
Dedicated VPN services are also available.
Departments using dedicated VPN services:
- Will incur monthly service charges.
- May incur one-time installation or modification charges.
- May request estimates for recurring and non-recurring costs.
