At times there are legitimate purposes for expenditures for alcohol related to the promotion of the interests of the University. A statement explaining how this expenditure benefits the University must be provided for each purchase of alcohol products, whether obtained by purchasing card or purchase order.

NOTE: An “alcohol benefit statement” needs to document a direct and specific benefit to the University for the purchase of alcohol. Social norms or societal expectations are not a benefit in themselves.
