University Publications
Publications and Alumni Communication is responsible for the production of departmental, school and college publications which are prepared for an audience external to the University and are related to student recruitment, fund raising, alumni communication, and campus-wide special events. An addition, the department is responsible for implementing and guidelines (such as letterheads, envelopes and business cards) specified by UM System.
Editorial, Photography And Design Services
Publications and Alumni Communication (882-7357), 407 Reynolds Alumni Center, offers planning, editorial, photography and design services at no charge to departments, schools and colleges for their publications related to student recruitment, fund raising, and alumni communication.
Requests for Services
To request services offered by Publications and Alumni Communication, call the assistant director (882-7357).
Freelance Designers, Photographers and Writers
In the event that time demands of a project are such that Publications and Alumni Communication cannot perform the work, Publications and Alumni Communication (882-7357) maintains a list of freelance designers, photographers and writers that departments, schools and colleges may hire.
Design, Review and Approval
Publications related to student recruitment, fund raising, alumni communication and/or campus wide special events are to be reviewed and approved by Publications and Alumni Communication.
Review
Publications and Alumni Communication will perform an editorial and design review of publications related to student recruitment, fund raising, alumni communication and campuswide special events to ensure the quality of publications emanating from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Departments, schools and colleges should provide Publications and Alumni Communication (882-7357), 407 Reynolds Alumni Center, with the following:
- Double-spaced hard copy of content for editing.
- Any art work, photographs, layout and printing specifications.
Design
Publications and Alumni Communication can plan and design publications related to student recruitment, fund raising, alumni communication and campus-wide special events. All design is done on Macintosh computers. Departments, schools and colleges should provide Publications and Alumni Communication (882-7357), 407 Reynolds Alumni Center, with the following:
- Final, edited copy on a computer disk. Preferred format: Macintosh or IBM word processing program on 3-1/2" floppy disk.
- Any artwork or photographs (unless Publications and Alumni Communication is providing these services).
- Printing specifications such as quantities, preferences and budget restrictions.
- Work authorization for printing.
Approval
Prior to printing, the department, school or college, and Publications and Alumni Communication (882-7357), 407 Reynolds Alumni Center, must place approval signatures on the blueprint.
NOTE: The client is responsible for proofreading the material. Publications and Alumni Communication is not responsible for mistakes in typing, content and design that are not detected by the client at proofing.
