Departments that need firewall services to maintain the security of their local area networks must obtain that service from the Division of Information Technology. The Division of Information Technology has identified firewall solutions that meet established performance standards and that are compatible with other components of the data network infrastructure.
Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
The Division of Information Technology strongly encourages and in some cases requires the use of VPN technology when accessing university computing resources remotely. General, non dedicated, VPN services are provided at no cost to the entire MU community.
Dedicated VPN resources are also available. Departments will incur monthly charges for dedicated VPN services and may incur one-time charges for installation or modification of such services. Estimates for recurring and non-recurring charges will be provided upon request.
