Maintenance Responsibilities

Maintenance Responsibilities

Campus Facilities is allocated general operating (G.O.) fund to maintain University building shells and support systems in educational and general (E&G) space. Other Campus Facilities services, maintenance and repairs for department-owned equipment, are charged to the requesting department.

Items Maintained by Campus Facilities in E&G Space at No Cost to Departments

Campus Facilities is responsible for maintaining the following list of items. Work is prioritized and the needed repairs made as funding levels permit. Custodial Services (as described in Section 12:010.)

  • Ashurns
  • Benches
  • Bicycle racks
  • Bulletin boards
  • Building lighting protection systems
  • Condensing units
  • Cooling towers
  • Doors & associated hardware
  • Dumpsters
  • Exterior building lights
  • Exterior painting

  • Gutters & downspouts
  • Handrails and guardrails
  • Landscaping
  • Landscaping Irrigation Systems

  • Lockers (assigned to faculty, students or staff where no rental fee is charged)

  • Plumbing Systems including:
    • Water fountains, toilets, urinals, lavatories, piping, water softeners, pressure reducing stations, backflow preventors and all associated piping.

Items Maintained by IDO

The following items are considered departmental equipment and maintenance and repair to these items will be charged to the requesting department and is not all-inclusive. For information about contracting for regular maintenance and repair for department-owned equipment, call Campus Facilities Customer Service at 882-8211.

    • Special humidity, temperature and lighting controls and equipment, cages, kennels, runs, fences, chutes, gates, tack room equipment, watering and waste disposal systems, wash downs, exam tables, surgical lighting, isolation and holding pens, iv tracks, security systems, radiation therapy rooms, lead-lined doors and panels any portable equipment, furniture, or shelving.
  • Booster pumps and heaters
  • Bridge cranes, runways, electric hoists, and rails
  • Cage washers
  • Demineralizers, deionizers, and water
  • Distillation units
  • Drains in concrete and soil batch labs
  • Dumbwaiters

    • All plant room equipment including growth lighting and irrigation systems, swamp coolers and all associated equipment including media and support racks, water distribution systems, exhaust fans, and/or louvers.
  • High efficiency air filters (HEPA, etc.)

  • Kitchen equipment including:
    • Ranges, refrigerators, freezers, plate and bowl dispensers, convection ovens, dishwashers, exhaust hoods, grease traps, ice chests, ice machines, disposals, ice cream equipment, beverage dispensers.
  • Laboratory air compressors and associated equipment
  • LP gas systems
  • Medical air filters and alarm system
